About UK Rest

UK Rest is an independent directory of restaurants, cafés and pubs in the United Kingdom. Every listed business gets its own free web page with the information diners look for most: telephone number, address, directions, opening hours and menu.

What we do

We currently list 52,229 venues in 2,262 towns and cities. Each listing lives on its own address – for example restaurant-name.uk-rest.com – and is designed to load quickly on mobile phones.

Listings are free for restaurants. We do not charge fees or commission, and we do not sell bookings. The site is funded by clearly labelled advertising.

Where our information comes from

• Food Standards Agency – business names, addresses and food hygiene ratings from the public register, used under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
• OpenStreetMap – telephone numbers, websites, opening hours and facilities contributed by the OpenStreetMap community, used under the Open Database Licence. © OpenStreetMap contributors.
• Restaurants' own publications – opening hours, menus and descriptions published by the businesses themselves, reproduced here so that everything is available on one page.
• ONS postcode directory (via postcodes.io) – used to confirm that every address and postcode exists.

We only publish a listing when its address and town can be confirmed. Details found in two independent sources are treated as confirmed; details from one source are shown with their source and date. Anything estimated – such as typical dishes or popular times – is labelled as an estimate.

Photos

Where possible we show the restaurant's own photos, as published on its website, so that diners can see the food and the venue. These photos remain the property of the restaurant, and owners can ask us to replace or remove them at any time. Where no photo of the restaurant is available we show an openly licensed photo of a typical dish from Wikimedia Commons, clearly labelled as an example dish. Authors and licences are listed on our image credits page.

Corrections and removals

Owners and managers can claim a listing, send new opening hours, menus and photos, or ask for a listing to be removed using our contact form. Diners can report incorrect information in the same way. We aim to deal with every request within five working days.
